Commissions

The Commissions have a clear and important purpose – to oversee the day to day operation of their specialist discipline within athletics across Scotland, and in practice to do that in close conjunction and co-operation with the staff team who are working in that area. The Commissions have a particular focus on events, event delivery, and the calendar of events, especially at national level.

The Commissions are:

Hill Running Commission

Convenor: Hugh Buchanan

Working closely with partner organisation Scottish Hill Runners, the Hill Running Commission leads on the development of hill running, on national championships and series, and on international selection and representation. There are close links to the UKA Mountain Running Advisory Group. For further information, contact: Mark Pollard.

Officials Commission

Convenor: Margaret Brown

The Officials Commission plays an essential role in the recruitment, development and training of officials, and also manages the appointments of officials to all track and field events. For further information, contact: Jim Goldie.

Road and Cross Country Commission

Convenor: John Rodger

Road, Cross Country and Trail running feature as the disciplines overseen by the Road and Cross Country Commission. National championships, international selection and events in those disciplines, development of endurance officials, and the monitoring of performance across these events are core activities. For further information, we recommend the Road and Cross Country website and archive.

Track and Field Commission

Convenor: Moira Maguire

The Commission covers all aspects and disciplines of the track and field, planning the calendar within Scotland for T&F events and championships, and overseeing T&F selection processes for representative events (there is a separate selection committee which has the Convenor of the T&F Commission on it).

The website run by the Scottish Association of Track Statisticians is a useful resource for data relating to track and field events and performances in Scotland.
